Inclement Weather Policy
Please note that on days when public school in Loudoun County has been canceled due to inclement weather, meetings of the Board of Supervisors' advisory boards, committees and commissions are canceled.
Please note that on January 3, 2017, the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors voted to dissolve the Courthouse Grounds and Facilities Committee, Landfill Special Exception Review Committee (formerly Woods Road Special Exception Review Committee), Towing Advisory Board (Trespass, Non-Consensual Towing), and the Transportation Improvement & Safety Commission
New Online Application Form
Loudoun County has developed a new online application form for those applying to the Board of Supervisors to serve on the county’s advisory boards, commissions and committees. The new, user-friendly, web-based form may be filled out and submitted online. The form also allows the applicant to easily attach a resume. The form is accessible through a secure connection through an https (Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure) address. In addition to providing increased online security, the technology behind the new form will help streamline the appointment process for citizens and the Board of Supervisors.
Advisory Boards, Commissions and Committees
The Loudoun County government has many advisory boards, commissions, and committees which provide opportunities for direct involvement in local government by residents of Loudoun County. The Board of Supervisors appoints citizens to fill vacancies on most of the following county and regional advisory boards, commissions, and committees. Members of the Board of Zoning Appeals are appointed by the Circuit Court.
: Certain boards, commissions, or committees may require members to fill out one or more “Conflict of Interest Statements” regarding financial disclosures, statement of economic interest, or real estate holdings. In addition, certain advisory bodies require members to have certain qualifications or to attain certain certifications. More information may be requested of you based on the advisory body you desire to serve on.
All boards, commissions, and committees are subject to the Virginia Freedom of Information Act (FOIA)
and Conflicts of Interest Act (COIA)
, including electronic communication regarding public business. Chapter 37, Section 2.2-3702 of the Virginia FOIA provides that upon appointment or election, or reappointment or reelection, members of a public body shall be provided with a copy of the act.
Applying for Advisory Boards, Commissions and Committees
The Board of Supervisors uses a online standard application form
for citizens interested in serving on an advisory board, commission, or committee. This form must be filled out by all interested citizens, and it may be supplemented with a letter of interest or additional documentation. If additional information is needed, you will be contacted by county staff. Please also note that nominees for the following advisory bodies will be subject to a background check:
