Appointment of Church Trustees
The application or petition must be accompanied by minutes of the meeting in which the trustees were elected. The minutes must be provided on church letterhead and should include: new appointments, new retirees, and changes in organization. View the Church Trustee Form. Please make sure you provide a cover sheet with a phone number and email address for the contact person.

Filing Fee
The filing fee is $29 paid to the Circuit Court. The filing fee must be paid by cash, certified check, money order or personal check (no starter checks will be accepted) payable to "Clerk of Circuit Court".

There will be an additional recording fee payable when the order is entered. The fee is $22 for up to ten pages. The $22 fee must be a separate check or money order, made payable to "Clerk of Circuit Court." You can submit the check at the same time you file your petition.

Filing Process
Upon filing the petition for appointment or substitution of church trustees, an order will be submitted to the Judge’s chambers for entry. No hearing is required for appointment or substitution of church trustees. In approximately three weeks, if the judge grants the petition, you will receive a certified copy of the final order if you provide a self-addressed stamped envelope
