Planning and Zoning
The Loudoun County Department of Planning and Zoning prepares reports and studies to assist the Board of Supervisors, Planning Commission, and citizens in the development of policies and plans that guide the use of land in the county.
The department manages land development applications for rezonings and special exceptions to determine consistency with county plans and ordinances.

Loudoun County's Department of Planning and Zoning is the source for the county's current demographics, development status, demographic and employment forecasts, and analysis of demographic issues.
Zoning Administration and Enforcement
The Zoning Division administers and enforces the provisions and regulations of the Loudoun County Zoning Ordinances, which are the mechanism for the implementation of the provisions of the comprehensive plan and has been established in order to ensure consistent and efficient land use throughout the county.
Residents may also contact the department for information on historic and archaeological resources and planning studies or initiatives near their homes or properties.
