Summer Activity Guide Cover 2020_2

Due to uncertainties stemming from the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2020 Summer Activity Guide was suspended. You can search for summer programs and reserve pool and fitness times online. All programs will be conducted in accordance with guidelines from the Virginia Department of Health, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and Loudoun County Health Department. If programs are canceled for pandemic-related reasons, customers will receive a refund.

Phase 3 begins July 1 in Loudoun County. Guidelines from the Virginia Department of Health (VDH) and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) are in place, including limiting groups to fewer than 250 individuals, following physical distancing, wearing a cloth face covering when physical distancing cannot be maintained, covering coughs and sneezes, using proper handwashing and staying home when sick. Visitors to all PRCS sites are expected to follow social distancing, including physical distancing of 10 feet during recreational activities, and other measures to help slow the spread of COVID-19.

Summer Programs

Facilities

  • PRCS aquatic, recreation and community centers are open with restrictions per Phase 3 guidelines, including reduced occupancy and modified program content. Starting August 3, senior centers are open weekdays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. only for reserved congregate meal service, with strict adherence to guidelines. All adult day centers are closed until further notice. 
  • Franklin Park Performing and Visual Arts Center is open with restrictions per Phase 3 guidelines, including reduced occupancy and modified program content. 
  • County parks are open for outdoor, recreational and leisure use with 250 or fewer people at each amenity or designated area. 
  • Basketball, tennis and pickleball courts, inline hockey rinks and Dulles Skate Park are open at 50% of minimum occupancy with patrons expected to follow physical distancing of 10 feet for recreational activities recommended by VDH and CDC. 
  • Pavilions are open at 50% of minimum occupancy or 250 people, whichever is less. 
  • Athletic fields at PRCS park sites and LCPS school sites are open for permitted use by affiliated leagues. Baseball, basketball, cricket, field hockey, lacrosse, soccer and softball can include drills, practices and games. All other sports are limited to conditioning drills. Physical distancing of 10 feet should be maintained among instructors, participants and spectators during all indoor and outdoor recreational sports where practical. The total number of attendees (including both participants and spectators) of recreational sports cannot exceed the lesser of 50% of the occupancy load on the certificate of occupancy (where applicable) or 250 persons. Attendees are limited to 250 for sports played on a field.
  • Outdoor pools are open at 75% of minimum occupancy or 250 persons, whichever is less or necessary to maintain required physical distancing. Reservations are required. 
  • Outdoor and indoor pools are open for recreational swimming and lap swimming with no more than two persons per lane and ten feet of physical distance per swimmer. Reservations are required for any pool use. Register online for indoor pools. See details regarding outdoor pool use.
  • Indoor leisure pool features (slide, vortex, hot tub, etc.) and the Franklin Park Pool splash pad and play features (slide, dump buckets, etc.) will remain closed.
  • Playgrounds are open per guidelines for physical distancing and stopping the spread of germs.
  • Climbing walls will remain closed.
  • The administrative office in Leesburg is open during normal business hours, with visitors and staff following guidelines for facial coverings and social distancing.  

Programs

  • Outdoor and indoor fitness programs at Dulles South Recreation and Community Center and Claude Moore Recreation and Community Center are offered per guidelines for reduced occupancy and physical distancing. Register online.
  • Reservations are required for use of workout/fitness areas/amenities at recreation centers. Sign up online
  • PRCS summer camps, classes and programs will run with restrictions per Phase 3 guidelines, including reduced capacity and modified program enrollment and content. Details and registration for summer programs can be found online.

  • PRCS summer programs at school sites, including DAZE, FEST and sports camps and clinics, will run with restrictions per Phase 3 guidelines, including reduced capacity and modified program enrollment and content.
  • Registration for PRCS after-school programs for the 2020-2021 school year is ongoing (online only).
  • Child care services are open at select community and recreation centers .

Senior Services

  • Starting August 3, senior centers are open weekdays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. only for reserved congregate meal service, with strict adherence to guidelines.

Phase progression contingent upon COVID-19 statistics and adherence to recommended guidelines from the Virginia Department of Health & Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. While programs may be held when facilities reopen, attendance may be significantly reduced and program content modified due to recommended guidelines, including social distancing, use of face coverings and enhanced cleaning of high-touch areas.
